本課程分為二部份，基礎生理學與醫學生理學。我們將部分無法適當融入器官系統的課程， 但必須先建立的生理學知?，整合於基礎醫學導論課程中，有助於日後銜接以器官系統為主 導的醫學生理學。在第一學期共20週的時間，主要在介紹生理學的基礎知?，包括細胞生理、 細胞膜生理、中樞神經系統、週邊神經系統、感覺生理、呼吸生理、肌肉生理、心血管生理、 循環生理、內分泌生理、腎臟泌生理、生殖生理、以及消化生理。

本課程目標是介紹負責生理功能的分子及細胞的作用機制、各組織與器官的 生理功能，以及跨器官的系統性的調控機轉，以期對人體生理有基本的瞭解。 課程同時包含了四堂實驗，藉由變因控制與測量，可以經由實作進一步瞭解 生理現象。學生可經由此基礎課程，延伸至藥理、病理，以及其他臨床學科 的學習。
